I'm taking a speaking sabbatical to work on some new writing. (Eeeps! Could I really write fiction? Good fiction that is? No way to know til I try, right?) But after my sabbatical, I look forward to starting my evening speeches again. I have lots of ideas for topics, and lots of libraries around the Midwest I'd like to visit. Stay tuned.

Vashon Island, WA

Oh boy! The organizers of the famous Vashon Island Sheepdog Classic have invited me to attend. I'll be giving a talk for the public, Saturday night the 8th, on what sheep and sheepdogs can tell us about "reading" our dogs. You can buy tickets at www.vashoncenterforthearts.org.

Dog trainer, radio host and podcaster Julie Forbes and I will do some interviews during the trial, and I might try my hand at announcing during some of the runs. This is one of the most popular trials in the country--over 10,000 people from the Seattle area attend, so get in line early for the ferry!

Tickets to the trial itself are available here.
